The Opportunity

I'm currently working with a growing and highly regarded independent planning consultancy looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to join its expanding team in Altrincham.

This is an exciting time to join the business, which has ambitious growth plans and is currently in the process of opening new offices in Manchester City Centre and Leeds, creating excellent long-term opportunities for career progression, project exposure and leadership.

The consultancy has built an excellent reputation for delivering commercially focused planning advice across residential, mixed-use, regeneration and strategic development projects. You'll work alongside an experienced team of planning professionals, managing your own projects while supporting junior planners and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

With a collaborative culture and a strong pipeline of work, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with Directors, build lasting client relationships and play a key role as the company continues to expand across the North of England.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will:

  • Manage a varied portfolio of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, planning statements and supporting documentation.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to developers, landowners, investors and housebuilders.
  • Lead pre-application discussions with Local Planning Authorities and statutory consultees.
  • Undertake planning appraisals and identify development opportunities and constraints.
  • Manage planning appeals where required.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams to deliver projects efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the planning team.
  • Assist Directors with business development opportunities and help shape the continued growth of the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
