Senior Town Planner
Location: Cheltenham (Hybrid Working Available)
Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well-established and growing planning consultancy based in Cheltenham. Working alongside a highly regarded team of planning professionals, you will play a key role in delivering a diverse range of planning projects across the UK.
The consultancy advises on an impressive portfolio of developments, including residential schemes, strategic urban extensions, major sporting stadiums, mixed-use developments, commercial projects, and other large-scale planning initiatives. This role offers the chance to take ownership of projects, build strong client relationships, and contribute to the successful delivery of high-profile developments.
The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will manage your own portfolio of planning projects while collaborating closely with senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing planning projects from inception through to determination.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation.
- Providing strategic planning advice to clients across a range of sectors.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Attending client meetings, public consultations, and planning committee meetings where required.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
- Supporting Associate Directors and Directors on major planning commissions.
- Identifying planning risks and opportunities and developing solutions to support project delivery.
- Contributing to business development activities and client growth opportunities.

About You
- A minimum of 4 years' experience within town planning, either in consultancy or the public sector.
- MRTPI qualification or be working towards Chartership.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
- Experience managing planning applications and delivering projects independently.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- A proactive and commercially aware approach to planning consultancy.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
