About The Role

This full-time position suits a chartered planner seeking greater responsibility within a respected independent consultancy. Based in Exeter, with potential to work from Cornwall offices, the Senior Planner will manage a varied portfolio spanning residential, commercial, leisure, renewable energy, and heritage schemes. Duties include leading applications, preparing reports, liaising with clients and local authorities, and mentoring junior colleagues. Working as part of an experienced and collaborative team, you'll take the lead on a varied portfolio of planning projects across the residential, commercial, leisure, renewable energy, and heritage sectors. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious MRTPI Planner looking to step into a senior role where they can take ownership of projects, build long-term client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse range of planning projects from inception through to determination
  • Prepare planning appraisals, planning applications, and appeals
  • Provide commercially focused planning advice to a wide variety of clients
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Attend client meetings, Planning Committees, and public consultations where required
  • Contribute towards business development and generating new opportunities
  • Mentor junior members of the team where appropriate

Requirements

  • MRTPI qualified
  • Strong planning experience gained within either consultancy or Local Authority
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system
  • Experience preparing planning applications and appeals
  • Commercial awareness and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload and client relationships
  • Full UK Driving Licence
