Senior Planner

As a Senior Planner you will be responsible for developing robust and underpinned programmes for delivery of work-packages; providing budget and schedule forecasting for the project / work package - including the development of resource loaded and cost loaded schedules, analysing and reporting on contractor’s programmes. Under NEC contracts you will develop robust and coherent programmes, reflecting the correct scope of work, ensure that programme milestones, risks, issues, and constraints are monitored and reported through suitable processes. This role can be based in any of our offices.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

  • Liaise with planning and scheduling counterparts in contractor’s and / or Client’s project teams; analyse and track contractor’s baseline programmes.
  • Assess and report on contractor’s programmes, under NEC3 (Option C), to support the Project Manager’s acceptance.
  • Develop robust and coherent programmes, reflecting the correct scope of work, from the contractor’s programme in conjunction with the delivery teams, to maintain associated baseline programmes.
  • Attend and contribute to all appropriate meetings on behalf of the Planning team or delivery team as appropriate.
  • Support any gate review process and preparations for any internal / external review (e.g., Investment reviews).
  • Provide budget and schedule forecasting for the programme - including the development of resource loaded and cost loaded schedules (with support from the Project Controls Manager).
  • Participate in the period end reporting process, including collation of actuals, measurement of performance (site based or office based as applicable), updating of the schedule, production of reports to advise on progress against baseline and variances (including Earned Value Management data).

  • Qualified to Degree level - preferably: Engineering or Project Management
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience working within a similar or related role
  • Proven track record of Planning / Project Controls responsibility
  • Project Management fundamentals via accreditation preferred (e.g., MAPM, PMI)

Technical Skills And Experience

  • Desire to challenge and strive for improvement in all parts of the organisation.
  • IT literate:
    • Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
    • Expert user of Microsoft Excel / access
    • User of Primavera P6 (essential)
    • User of Asta Power Project (not essential)
  • Knowledge of risk management software (e.g., SAFRAN) and QSRA would be useful.
