Job Title

Senior Planner

Reporting to

Planning Manager

Purpose of the Position

The Senior Planner will support the Planning Manager in leading the planning function across complex and high-value projects, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals and client expectations. They will apply advanced project management methodologies and uphold the highest Health and Safety standards, contributing to Omexom’s reputation for excellence in safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Leading the development and management of integrated project schedules across multiple workstreams.
  • Proactively identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Overseeing planning activities of other planners and providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Liaising with sub-contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate project phases.
  • Producing high-quality tender and baseline programmes to support bids and project execution.
  • Managing and optimizing resource and cost-loaded schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Ensuring project progress aligns with contractual milestones, cost plans, and client expectations.
  • Providing strategic planning input to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement in planning processes and tools.
  • Acting as a role model for Omexom Company Values.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in planning major infrastructure projects, ideally within the energy sector (Transmission/Substations).
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource and cost loading, Earned Value Management, and progress reporting.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Proven ability to develop programmes from first principles and critically assess supplier schedules.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and CDM regulations.
  • High level of computer literacy in MS Office and MS Project, especially Excel (advanced functions and data analysis).

Desirable Criteria

  • Significant experience in construction planning for multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Formal qualifications in Construction Management or Project Controls.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
