Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join our team and support the successful planning and delivery of complex energy, grid and power supply projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in project planning within the power, utilities, energy or infrastructure sectors, with a good understanding of grid connections, power supply infrastructure and the interfaces between engineering, construction, procurement and project delivery.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust project programmes, monitoring progress, identifying risks and dependencies, and providing clear planning information to project teams and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and maintain detailed project programmes from concept and design through to construction, commissioning and handover.
- Work closely with engineering, construction, commercial, procurement and project management teams to ensure programme alignment.
- Develop integrated schedules covering grid connections, power supply, electrical infrastructure, civils, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Monitor actual progress against baseline programmes and identify delays, risks, constraints and critical path activities.
- Provide regular programme updates, progress reports and analysis to project and senior management teams.
- Undertake programme impact assessments and support the development of mitigation and recovery plans.
- Manage interfaces and dependencies between contractors, suppliers, utilities, network operators and other project stakeholders.
- Support project teams with planning, sequencing and resource requirements.
- Review contractor and supplier programmes, challenging assumptions and ensuring alignment with the overall project delivery strategy.
- Maintain programme governance, including baselines, change control, milestones and progress measurement.
- Identify opportunities to improve programme performance and provide practical recommendations to the project team.
- Contribute to risk and opportunity management, ensuring programme risks are properly reflected in project schedules.
- Support reporting for senior stakeholders, providing clear and concise commentary on programme performance.

About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong planning expertise with a practical understanding of delivering power, grid or electrical infrastructure projects.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience working as a Planner or Senior Planner within the energy, power, utilities, infrastructure or construction sector.
- A proven background in grid connections, power supply, electrical infrastructure or related projects.
- Strong experience developing and managing complex, multi-disciplinary programmes.
- Excellent knowledge of planning methodologies, programme controls and critical path analysis.
- Experience using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Experience reviewing contractor programmes and managing programme interfaces.
- Strong understanding of project delivery processes, including design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate programme information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Confidence working with project managers, engineers, contractors, suppliers and senior leadership.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify potential issues before they affect project delivery.

Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Electricity transmission or distribution networks.
- Grid connection projects.
- Substations and HV infrastructure.
- Power generation or energy storage projects.
- Renewable energy projects.
- Data centre power infrastructure.
- Utility infrastructure and network upgrades.
- HV/MV/LV electrical systems.
- Commissioning and energisation programmes.
- Working with DNOs, TSOs, network operators or utility providers.
