THE TEAM
The Planning team comprises around 85 people based in both London and Edinburgh of which 25 sit within the Housing and Land team based in London.

The Housing and Land planning team advises owners, developers and occupiers of sites and properties in England across the private and public sectors. Our clients include Barratt, London Square, Regal, Taylor Wimpey, the NHS, Defra and the MoD.
The team works collaboratively to deliver results for predominately residential-led developments and we have secured planning permission for over 70,000 homes over the past three years. Our commercially focused planning team works closely with colleagues across the wider firm to provide holistic advice to our clients and commercially driven planning strategies. This collaborative approach ensures optimal solutions that are not only legally sound but also commercially viable and deliverable.
Current projects include: Orchard Wharf, Springfield Hospital, Northfleet Harbourside and Worcestershire Parkway.
Responsibilities
ROLE OVERVIEW
- To support the partners in the housing and land planning team;
- To contribute to the growth of the housing and land planning team;
- To take initiative to resolve project and internal matters that arise;
- To be responsible for one’s own and junior colleague’s performance, managing and delegating effectively;
- To keep abreast of market and professional information to identify profitable business opportunities;
- To work collaboratively with other parts of the business and explore business opportunities; and
- To nurture existing client relationships to win repeat business independently or as part of a team.

MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reporting to Head of Housing and Land:
- Providing direct client advice and managing junior staff to prepare advice to clients;
- Developing planning strategies, preparing programmes and reviewing information;
- Drafting or reviewing reports, co-ordinating the preparation and submission of planning applications/appeals/ representations;
- Identifying new business opportunities, assisting in firm-wide business development and preparing fee proposals;
- Developing individual client base;
- Providing planning advice to clients and attending meetings;
- Assisting in the development and training of staff, including mentoring junior staff;
- Responsible for maintaining continuing professional development for self and junior colleagues; and
- Any additional duties as reasonably requested
Qualifications
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
- RTPI Qualified;
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal;
- Team Player who enjoys working collaboratively across Teams and Departments;
- High service delivery skills;
- An independent thinker; and
- Previous experience of working across England preferably with experience in delivering residential led projects.
