Senior Planner required for a major data centre project
An established and growing main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join its team on a flagship data centre construction project near Hayes, West London.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the planning and delivery of one of the UK's largest hyperscale data centre developments. Working closely with senior management and project delivery teams, you'll drive programme strategy across pre-construction, live construction and project completion.

The Role
As Senior Planner, you'll lead the planning function across a major construction project, developing robust programmes, managing planning risks, and supporting project teams to successfully deliver key milestones.
You'll work closely with project directors, commercial teams, site management, and clients to ensure programmes accurately reflect project strategy while maintaining the highest planning standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of detailed construction programmes across tender, pre-construction, and live project phases
- Produce and manage baseline programmes, contract programmes, and short-term look-ahead schedules
- Develop construction methodologies, sequencing strategies, and logistics plans
- Monitor project progress and identify programme risks, delays, and recovery opportunities
- Analyse critical path, float, and programme performance
- Support extension of time submissions, delay analysis, and programme records
- Provide planning input into tenders, bids, and pre-construction activities
- Ensure programme governance, baselining, and change control procedures are maintained
- Review and maintain planning standards across multiple project teams
- Mentor and support planners within the business, promoting best practice
- Attend client meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful project delivery

About The Project
You'll initially be based on a landmark hyperscale data centre development near Hayes, West London.
The Project Includes
- Multiple state-of-the-art data halls
- High and medium voltage electrical infrastructure
- Energy centres and backup power generation
- Major civil engineering and external works
- Office accommodation and visitor facilities
This is a technically complex, long-term project that offers exposure to one of the UK's fastest-growing construction sectors.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Significant experience as a Senior Planner, Construction Planner, Planning Manager, or Project Planner
- Proven track record of developing and managing construction programmes on large-scale projects
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, logistics, and programme risk management
- Experience supporting tender, contract, and post-contract planning activities
- Knowledge of delay analysis, extension of time procedures, and programme records
- Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6, ASTA Powerproject, and/or Microsoft Project
- Experience working under NEC3, NEC4, and/or FIDIC contracts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior planners is highly desirable

Qualifications
- Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Controls, or a related discipline
- Professional membership of CIOB, APM, RICS, or a similar professional body is desirable
- Formal training in Primavera P6, ASTA Powerproject, or equivalent planning software
