AWC Staff Services are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a growing Project Management team delivering major capital projects across infrastructure, real estate, and the public sector.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex programmes, helping clients achieve positive project outcomes through effective planning, programme management, and collaborative delivery.

The role is well suited to a proactive, client-focused planner who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills and enjoys working within high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project across a range of major capital projects.
  • Analyse programme performance, critical paths, progress, and project milestones, providing clear insight and recommendations to support successful delivery.
  • Identify programme risks, delays, and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.
  • Produce high-quality programme reports, dashboards, and schedule updates for clients and project teams.
  • Review contractor programmes and support programme assurance, governance, and project controls activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, clients, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle to drive programme certainty and delivery excellence.
  • Promote planning best practice, consistency, and robust programme management processes across project teams.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior planners, contributing to the growth and capability of the wider team.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in project planning within construction, infrastructure, or major capital projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, with Microsoft Project experience desirable.
  • Excellent programme analysis, reporting, and scheduling expertise.
  • Good understanding of project controls, programme management, and project governance principles.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A collaborative approach with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to influence successful project outcomes.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience across infrastructure, real estate, regeneration, or public sector projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and programme assurance.
  • Professional membership of, or working towards chartership with, APM, AACE, ICE, or an equivalent professional body.
