Department
The Logistics Management Centre (LMC) supports Southern Water's wastewater operations by delivering specialist tankering and treatment solutions across Hampshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight regions. Working closely with operational teams, the LMC plays a key role in maintaining network resilience, responding to incidents, supporting planned maintenance activities, and helping to protect customers and the environment.
Our Tankering Division provides a flexible fleet resource to manage wastewater movements across the network, while our Treatment Division delivers specialist services to clean, maintain and optimise critical wastewater assets.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a Senior Planner to work with the team of HGV Tanker Drivers who works across the Region. You will be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out efficiently in line the Southern Water Contract. The work incorporates tankering various non-hazardous liquids from sites to disposal facilities across the regions. Your work will involve being the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders.

Location: Durrington Head Office, Worthing, West Sussex
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: 4 on 4 off day shift, (6:00am - 6:00pm).
Salary: Depending on experience
Benefits: 21 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Key Responsibilities
- Update the job details in Big Change / Ortec based on new information or feedback.
- Close jobs on Big Change if not carried out by drivers.
- Escalate unresolved backlogs to relevant managers.
- Ensure all planning, job, and locations spreadsheets current and accurate.
- Maintain shared inboxes with timely responses and organised records.
- Capture and log all customer and contractor communications.
- Track Tankering departure timings via samsara.
- Monitor and respond to reactive work requests and escalations.
- Maintain live operative locations spreadsheets for accurate deployment.
- Coordinate with drivers to confirm dispatch times, routes and availabilities.
- Review and assign client requests promptly via Big change / Ortec.
- Capture and log changes to job details, site notes and client feedback.
- Update compliance reports and speak to relevant management for any failings.
- Record downtime, delays and reasons for missed SLAs.
- Any ad-hoc from lead planner.
