Schenk UK is an innovative national tanker haulage business operating one of the largest road tanker fleets in the UK. For over 60 years, we’ve proudly served the chemicals, gas, fuels, waste, and powders sectors, making us the UK’s largest chemical transporter.

Due to continued growth in our fuel sector, specifically Bitumen, we are seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our Planning team at the Eastham site.

As a Senior Planner, you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective logistics solutions for our customers. You will oversee the efficient movement of LGV tanker trailers nationwide, ensuring compliance, optimisation, and exceptional service standards. This position requires strong leadership, advanced planning skills, and the ability to manage complex operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the planning of driver and vehicle resources to meet delivery and collection schedules.
  • Oversee daily transport plans, ensuring accuracy and timely communication to drivers and customers.
  • Optimise route planning and resource utilisation using Transport Management Systems (e.g., Microlise) and MS Excel.
  • Monitor KPIs such as OTIF, mileage efficiency, and vehicle utilisation, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with WTD, drivers’ hours legislation, and all statutory requirements.
  • Act as a key point of escalation for operational issues, providing solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, drivers, and customers to ensure service excellence.
  • Support and mentor junior planners, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of incidents, defects, and compliance documentation.
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and process improvements within the transport function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
