Senior Planning Engineer

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
Job Role
Taylor Woodrow is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to support the successful delivery of major civil engineering and highway infrastructure projects across the region. Working closely with Project Leads, Site Teams, and the Pre-Construction function, you will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and managing project programmes from tender stage through to project delivery.
This role would suit an experienced Planner with a strong understanding of project delivery, or an operational professional who has progressed into planning and can bring practical construction knowledge into the programming process. The successful candidate will combine technical planning expertise with strong communication skills, enabling them to work collaboratively with project teams and provide clear, accurate programme information to support project performance.
The position can be based from either the Exeter or Bristol area, supporting projects across the South West region. Experience within highways, infrastructure, or heavy civils environments will be highly advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
