The project: Our client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services in England. Their purpose is to deliver their services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner and create sustainable long-term value for all. We currently provide the client with a range of services across their capital delivery programme, including project management, PMO services, commercial and construction management, and we are always looking for opportunities to deliver more value through the provision of technical expertise.

Role Overview
Responsible for directing the planning function across allocated projects and tenders, ensuring schedules are effectively developed, monitored and delivered. Supports project management to achieve timely and profitable outcomes, overseeing planning for medium to high-complexity projects, portfolios or major project sections.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing safe, high-quality and compliant project delivery, promoting wellbeing, inclusion and strong HSE standards.
- Driving performance across key assignments, ensuring effective planning, scheduling and monitoring aligned with business objectives.
- Supporting strategic development, governance and responsible decision-making across functions and business units.
- Fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing and strong stakeholder relationships to enable people and projects to excel.
- Managing effective planning, scheduling and project controls, applying recognised methodologies and tools.
- Providing clear analysis, advice and corrective actions to stakeholders and clients.
- Managing and developing a high-performing planning team, influencing client decisions and outcomes.
- Delivering project requirements while supporting net-zero ambitions and proactive carbon management.
Key Requirements
- Typically 8 years relevant experience, appropriate degree, technical qualifications with significant experience in Project Controls/Planning and Scheduling/Programme Delivery on large complex projects and programmes.
- Expert knowledge of design and build techniques, methods and durations, with ability to plan and schedule detailed bottom-up construction programmes.
- Strong knowledge and highly experienced with Primavera.
- Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
