We are supporting a London Local Authority with the recruitment of a Principal Planning Officer to join its Development Management teams. The role will focus on managing complex and major planning applications, providing expert planning advice, making delegated decisions and supporting the delivery of major regeneration and development projects across the borough.

  • 3+ years’ post-qualification planning experience, with eligibility for professional membership.
  • Strong experience in Development Management, including major and complex applications.
  • Experience making delegated planning decisions and preparing robust officer reports.
  • Confident presenting at Planning Committees and leading on planning appeals/public inquiries.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior planning officers.
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation, the NPPF and London/local planning policy.
  • Excellent negotiation, report-writing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work with developers and partners to support regeneration and high-quality development.
  • Able to manage a demanding caseload, work independently and meet tight deadlines.
