Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to define and drive the long-term technical vision, architecture, and strategy for a business-critical on-premise back-office platform. This role will provide strategic technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, with a strong focus on Progress OpenEdge, Java-based applications, platform standardization, operational excellence, security, and long-term sustainability.
The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for the platform, partnering with Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver multi-year platform initiatives and ensure the continued evolution, stability, and scalability of the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the long-term architecture, roadmap, and technology strategy for the platform.
- Provide technical leadership and governance across multiple engineering teams and applications.
- Drive engineering excellence through standardization, reusable components, best practices, and operational improvements.
- Lead the design and evolution of secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable platform solutions.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering teams and key stakeholders, including Architecture and Information Security.
- Drive platform modernization, stability, performance, and operational maturity initiatives.
- Guide complex technical decision-making and mentor senior engineers, technical leads, and architects.

Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, platform architecture, or technical leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in Progress OpenEdge (ABL/OpenEdge platform) architecture and development.
- Extensive experience with Java and enterprise application development, including technologies such as Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, and Hibernate/JPA.
- Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale, business-critical on-premise platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, distributed systems, software design patterns, and system integration.
- Experience defining and executing large-scale, multi-year technology strategies and roadmaps.
- Demonstrated success leading architecture and engineering initiatives across multiple teams and business domains.
- Strong knowledge of security architecture, governance, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Experience driving platform standardization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement programs.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale or highly regulated environments is highly desirable.
