Platform DevOps Engineer | Kubernetes Migration Engineer
We're partnering with a leading organisation undergoing a major platform modernisation programme and are looking for an experienced Platform DevOps Engineer to help drive the migration of mission-critical applications onto modern Kubernetes platforms.
This is an opportunity to work closely with software engineering teams, supporting complex application, infrastructure and platform migrations within a cloud-native environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partner with development teams to understand application architectures, dependencies and operational requirements
- Lead migrations from legacy environments to modern Kubernetes platforms
- Support Kubernetes workload migrations and platform adoption initiatives
- Drive operating system migrations, including CentOS to Ubuntu transitions
- Assist with application and workflow modernisation projects, including Airflow migrations
- Analyse application runtime configurations and software dependencies
- Develop automation solutions to improve deployment and migration processes
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, platform and application issues
- Collaborate with Platform, Infrastructure and Software Engineering teams to improve reliability and scalability
- Contribute to CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering best practices

Key Skills
- Strong experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- Proven experience migrating applications between Kubernetes environments
- Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes administration and support
- Strong Linux knowledge, particularly CentOS and Ubuntu
- Commercial experience with Python for automation and tooling
- Experience working closely with software engineering teams
- Strong understanding of application runtime environments and dependency management
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience operating within cloud-native and containerised environments

Nice to Have
- Airflow 1.x to 2.x migration experience
- Experience with Internal Developer Platforms or Platform Engineering frameworks
- AWS, Azure or GCP experience
- Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana or similar
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or regulated environments
