Senior Platform Engineer (Contract) UK Remote
About the Company
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale Azure-based platform infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role, focused on building environments from scratch, not just maintaining existing systems.
You will join an in-house platform team, working with minimal reliance on third-party vendors, enabling full ownership of platform engineering and delivery.

- Design and build an Azure-based cloud platform infrastructure
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- Work across Azure PaaS and IaaS services
- Build and support containerised platforms (AKS / Azure Container Apps)
- Contribute to system design and architectural decisions
- Support cloud migration initiatives (on-prem → Azure)
- Ensure scalability, performance optimisation, and security best practices
- Enable internal teams through a self-service platform approach
Qualifications
- Strong experience in Azure platform engineering
- Proven hands-on experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) including modular, enterprise-grade implementations
- Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions
- Experience working with Azure PaaS and IaaS services
- Demonstrated experience building platforms/environments from scratch
- Strong understanding of:
- System design
- Scalability and performance tuning
- Cloud security principles
- Experience with container platforms (AKS, Azure Container Apps)
