Salary Range - £63,500 - £75,500
A Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the platforms, tooling, and infrastructure that enable product and delivery teams to build, deploy, and operate software reliably and efficiently. They define and champion good practice through technical standards, evolving conventions, and shared tools and platforms that remove friction and empower teams to move faster and more safely.
A key aspect of Senior Platform Engineering is long-term thinking: designing systems that remain resilient, scalable, and maintainable as time passes. Balancing immediate delivery needs with future sustainability ensures the continued success of the individual, the team, and the organisation.
A member of the Platform Team builds internal products and automation to support cross functionally. They focus on improving reliability, observability, deployment, and operational processes, while clearly documenting standards and enabling self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Platform Engineer at Inflo, you will:
- Write high quality, maintainable code
- Maintain and improve platform performance, reliability, and resilience
- Contribute to and maintain technical designs and architecture
- Bring innovation to platform and delivery practices
- Optimise systems and services for deployability, operability, and scalability
Required/desired skills & qualifications
Required:
- Azure / AWS / GCP (Azure preferred)
- Azure Pipelines / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI (Azure Pipelines preferred)
- Cloud-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting tooling
- Clear and concise coding techniques
- Foundational technical design and architecture skills
- Self-guided research into development, platform, and process-related topics
- Strong inter-team collaboration and communication skills
- Strong unit testing capabilities
Desired:
- Azure Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Bicep, ARM)
- C# / Java (C# preferred)
- ASP.NET Core / general web development (ASP.NET Core preferred)
- Azure Functions / AWS Lambda / Google Cloud Functions (Azure Functions preferred)
- Azure Service Bus / RabbitMQ / similar messaging technologies (Azure Service Bus preferred)
- Strong understanding of DevOps culture and ways of working
- Involvement in wider-reaching automated testing and quality practices
- BSc in Computer Science or another related degree

Success within the first 12 months
- You take ownership of proposed features, and are responsible for the successful end-to-end lifecycle from inception to delivery, directing the work of others as required.
- You actively lead team ceremonies, offering strategic suggestions to improve working practices.
- You write self-documenting, appropriately tested code to fulfil the requirements, including both infrastructure and application code.
- You review the code of other engineers offering appropriate feedback, and will be added to the approved Code Reviewer group.
- You mentor colleagues to grow their skills in both technical and non-technical areas.
- You actively engage in opportunities to grow your skills in organised and self-directed learning.
