Senior Platform Engineer
Location: London (4 days onsite per week)
Salary: £100,000 - £130,000 + Share Options + Onsite Allowance
Reporting to: Technical Director
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to support the deployment, integration and operation of a mission-critical platform used within highly secure and regulated environments.
The platform enables sensors, edge devices, autonomous systems and operational applications from multiple vendors to operate as a unified ecosystem, including in disconnected and low-bandwidth environments. The role combines platform engineering, Kubernetes operations, customer-facing technical leadership and systems integration.
You will work closely with customers, partners and internal engineering teams to onboard new technologies, deploy solutions into secure environments and help shape the future direction of the platform based on real-world operational requirements.
AI-assisted engineering forms part of the development lifecycle, with engineers retaining ownership of architecture, decision-making, validation and delivery.
Your First 90 Days
- Fully prepare and validate deployment and integration processes using representative partner technologies and test environments.
- Deliver successful integrations of newly onboarded partner systems into the platform.
- Be ready to support customer demonstrations and deployments with short lead times.
- Contribute customer and partner feedback into the engineering roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and operate Kubernetes-based platforms in secure, disconnected and customer-managed environments.
- Lead technical decisions during customer integrations and deployments.
- Translate customer requirements into actionable engineering outcomes.
- Work directly with stakeholders to onboard new systems and services.
- Support platform reliability, security and operational readiness.
- Review and validate outputs from AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Areas You Will Lead and Support
Kubernetes & Platform Engineering
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes environments, including managed and lightweight distributions.
- Operate platforms in disconnected and offline environments.
- Manage container images, Helm charts and deployment artefacts across secure environments.
- Support GitOps-driven delivery processes.
Infrastructure as Code
- Maintain customer-specific deployment repositories.
- Manage infrastructure using Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Support multi-environment deployments and configuration management.
- Establish repeatable, auditable deployment processes.
Integration Engineering
- Develop integrations and adapters using Go.
- Consume and extend APIs using OpenAPI specifications.
- Implement data mapping and transformation logic between systems.
- Support onboarding of new customer and partner technologies.
Identity & Security
- Integrate with enterprise identity providers and authentication systems.
- Manage role-based and policy-based access controls.
- Support certificate, credential and key lifecycle management.
- Ensure deployments meet security and compliance requirements.
Edge & Distributed Systems

- Support edge computing platforms and lightweight Kubernetes clusters.
- Manage remote device fleets and software deployment processes.
- Work with resilient networking technologies in constrained environments.
- Support operation across distributed and low-connectivity estates.
Ways of Working
- Engineering decisions are captured through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
- Architectural proposals are reviewed collaboratively before implementation.
- GitOps and automation-first principles underpin delivery.
- AI-assisted engineering is used wherever it improves quality and velocity while maintaining engineering oversight.
About You
Essential
- Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
- Strong commercial experience operating Kubernetes platforms.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, platform engineering or DevOps practices.
- Experience developing software in Go or another modern backend language.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Experience operating within regulated, security-conscious or customer-controlled environments.
Desirable
- Experience deploying platforms in disconnected or air-gapped environments.
- Knowledge of Helm, GitOps and modern platform engineering practices.
- Experience integrating identity providers and access management systems.
- Exposure to edge computing, IoT or distributed systems.
- Experience supporting international customers and complex technical deployments.
