Contract: 6 months
Location: Hybrid – 60% onsite, primarily Milton Keynes (some London) IR35: Inside IR35 Rate: £629.92/day Umbrella Security Clearance: Current DV Clearance – Essential
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to support secure, enterprise-scale infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments.
The role focuses on Azure infrastructure, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor/AMA, Windows and Linux administration, networking, endpoint security/XDR and automation. You will work closely with Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Operations teams to maintain resilient, secure and highly available platforms.
Key Skills & Experience
Azure & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Strong Azure administration with hands-on experience deploying and managing Azure Arc-enabled servers, subscriptions, resource groups, RBAC and hybrid infrastructure.
Monitoring & Observability
- Experience with Azure Monitor Agent (AMA), Log Analytics, Data Collection Rules (DCRs), dashboards, alerting and infrastructure monitoring across Windows and Linux.

Endpoint Security/XDR
- Hands-on deployment and support of XDR/EDR agents across enterprise Windows and Linux estates, including troubleshooting onboarding, connectivity and agent health.
Windows & Linux
- Strong enterprise server administration covering Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificates, alongside Linux services, packages, SSH, storage, patching and hardening.
Networking
- Strong TCP/IP and enterprise networking knowledge including DNS, routing, firewalls, proxies, VPNs and load balancers, plus Azure VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute and Private Endpoints.
Automation & IaC
- Experience with PowerShell, Bash and Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates, with a focus on automating deployment, validation and operational tasks.

Additional Experience
Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Cortex XDR, Intune, SCCM, Ansible, Terraform, Bicep, Entra ID, Defender for Cloud, CI/CD, DevOps or ITIL would be advantageous.
Essential Requirements
- Current DV Security Clearance
- 5+ years' experience in Platform, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering or Systems Administration
- Strong hands-on Azure and hybrid infrastructure experience
- Azure Arc and Azure Monitor Agent experience
- Enterprise Windows and Linux administration
- XDR/EDR deployment and support experience
- Strong networking and troubleshooting skills
- PowerShell and Bash scripting experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong focus on security, reliability and operational excellence
Please note: This is a hands-on engineering role within a complex, secure enterprise environment, with DV clearance essential.
