Senior Platform Engineer – Financial Technology
Location: London
We’re working with a highly regarded financial technology firm building mission-critical software used by some of the world’s largest financial institutions. The business develops sophisticated technology that helps financial institutions manage complex regulatory and operational requirements in real time. They’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join their London team and play a key role in developing the internal platform that underpins their products.
The Role
You’ll work across Technology and Product teams to ensure enterprise software products can be built, tested, deployed and supported effectively in production.
A major focus will be designing and enhancing the firm’s internal infrastructure platform, improving developer experience and enabling engineering teams to self-service. You’ll also work with enterprise clients to support successful deployment of the firm’s software into complex environments.

This is a broad engineering role spanning platform development, infrastructure, automation, production engineering and client-facing technical problem solving.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and enhance the internal infrastructure platform, improving developer experience and engineering velocity.
- Work across the full development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and production.
- Support infrastructure, improve incident detection and operational maturity, and deploy new services.
- Develop reusable architecture patterns, workflows and technical solutions.
- Build and standardise tooling and processes across engineering teams.
- Ensure solutions meet technical, security, operational and support standards.
- Work closely with Engineering, Product and QA teams on performance, availability, deployment and upgrades.
- Engage with enterprise clients to understand technical requirements and support successful implementations.
What We’re Looking For

- 5+ years’ experience building and shipping solutions within distributed Platform-as-a-Service environments.
- Strong programming experience in at least one high-level language such as Java, Clojure or Python, alongside scripting experience.
- Strong experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps tooling.
- Experience with modern CI/CD systems.
- Proven experience building robust infrastructure and supporting business-critical applications in production.
- Experience launching or developing new technology stacks.
- Understanding of performance, latency, high availability/fault tolerance and production deployment.
- A strong automation mindset and interest in building reusable tooling.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working across technical, product and client-facing environments.
