Remote - With visits to Leeds office

The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate our AWS-based platform. As a senior technical contributor within our Platform Engineering function, you'll play a key role in shaping the capabilities that underpin our strategic objectives across Developer Experience, Service Reliability, and Business Agility.
You’ll work primarily with AWS (EKS), alongside the CNCF ecosystem, Istio service mesh, ArgoCD, Terraform & Crossplane, and GitLab CI/CD. Experience with GKE or Azure is a plus. You’ll need solid skills in at least one modern language (Python, Go, Java or C#) and strong Linux administration.

What you will do
- Design, build and support secure, scalable and reliable platform capabilities across AWS
- Develop and improve self-service tooling that enables engineering teams to deliver software more efficiently
- Work with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies to enhance our Internal Developer Platform
- Support platform reliability, observability and operational excellence across production environments
- Collaborate closely with development teams to improve developer experience and remove delivery bottlenecks
- Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, automation and platform engineering best practices
- Contribute to platform architecture and technical decisions, helping to shape future platform capabilities
- Troubleshoot complex platform issues and support incident resolution when required
- Share knowledge, mentor engineers and help raise technical standards across the team
What you'll bring:
- Strong experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps roles within cloud-native environments
- Proven production experience with EKS, Istio service mesh and GitOps, with exposure to GKE and/or Azure environments
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform, Crossplane and GitLab CI/CD
- Strong Linux administration skills and experience building self-service platform capabilities at scale
- Good understanding of security, including Vault and IAM, alongside observability tooling such as Grafana, Thanos, Loki, Tempo and Jaeger
- Experience supporting production platforms, including incident response and operational ownership
- A pragmatic engineering mindset with a strong sense of ownership, a passion for automation, and the ability to positively influence and mentor others
