Position Description
Join CGI as a Platform Engineer and help shape the secure, scalable foundations that enable innovative AI services to move from development into operational environments. You’ll take ownership of meaningful engineering challenges, using AWS, Kubernetes and automation to create reliable platforms that accelerate delivery and generate lasting value for our clients. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is an office-based role.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will help design, build and operate the platform capabilities that support the development, integration and hosting of AI services. You’ll take ownership of platform engineering activities across AWS and Kubernetes environments, helping teams develop efficiently and deploy securely into operational environments.

Working collaboratively with engineering and client teams, you’ll apply your expertise to improve automation, reliability and consistency across environments. You’ll have the opportunity to introduce new ideas, solve complex engineering challenges and continuously enhance the tools and processes that enable successful delivery, with support from CGI’s wider community of technical experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Build: Develop and enhance scalable platform capabilities using AWS and Kubernetes.
- Deploy & Operate: Deploy, manage and maintain applications running on Kubernetes and AWS EKS.
- Develop & Improve: Contribute to Python applications, utilities and engineering tools that improve platform capabilities.
- Automate & Optimise: Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, repeatable and efficient delivery.
- Integrate & Enable: Support the integration and hosting of AI services across client environments.
- Collaborate & Innovate: Work with engineering teams to solve technical challenges and continuously improve platform design and delivery.
- Own & Deliver: Take responsibility for high-quality engineering outcomes while contributing to the technical direction of the platform.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
You should bring hands-on platform engineering experience and be comfortable working with cloud-native technologies in complex environments. You’ll combine practical AWS and Kubernetes expertise with Python and CI/CD knowledge, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively, take ownership of technical challenges and develop creative solutions with the support of a wider engineering community.
Qualifications
- Kubernetes: Proven experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes.
- AWS: Strong practical experience working with AWS, including operating workloads on Amazon EKS.
- Python: Ability to contribute to the development of applications, automation or engineering tools using Python.
- CI/CD: Hands-on experience using and managing CI/CD tooling and automated delivery pipelines.
- Platform Engineering: Experience building, operating or improving reliable cloud-based platforms.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to shared technical outcomes.
- Security Clearance: Hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to undergo the required clearance process.
