MCS Group is proud to be working with an established organisation in the financial services space that is looking to add a Senior Platform Engineer to its team in London.
This is a genuinely hands-on platform role for someone who has designed and built cloud native Azure environments from scratch. The focus is on Azure platform engineering, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes and GitOps, with strong ownership from requirements gathering through to production delivery.
(Hybrid - 2 days in office - London)
What you'll be doing...
- Design, build and maintain cloud-native Azure infrastructure
- Gather technical requirements and take ownership of solutions from design through to production
- Build and manage multi-subscription or multi-tenant Azure environments
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt
- Design reusable Terraform modules, remote state, locking and environment separation
- Build, configure and manage Kubernetes / AKS clusters
- Implement GitOps practices using ArgoCD or Flux
- Design and manage Azure networking including VNets and Private Endpoints
- Implement identity, access and governance controls using Entra ID, RBAC and Azure Policy
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Work closely with engineering, product and QA teams to support reliable delivery
- Improve platform reliability, security, observability and performance
- Help drive DevSecOps, SRE and automation best practices across the platform

What they're looking for:
- Strong cloud-native Azure experience
- Production experience with Terragrunt
- Strong Terraform experience including reusable module design, remote state, locking and environment separation
- Production experience with Kubernetes / AKS
- Experience implementing GitOps using ArgoCD or Flux
- Strong Azure networking and identity knowledge including:
- Entra ID
- RBAC
- Private Endpoints
- VNet design
- Azure Policy
- Experience designing and building multi-subscription or multi-tenant Azure environments
- Evidence of building platforms from scratch rather than simply operating existing estates
- Comfortable working end-to-end: gathering requirements, designing the solution, building it and taking it through to production

Nice to haves...
- AZ-305 or CKA certifications
- Helm
- Azure DevOps pipelines
- Experience within a regulated environment such as financial services, insurance or healthcare
- Experience with observability, SRE and DevSecOps principles
This role would suit a Senior Platform Engineer who still enjoys being hands on technically and wants real ownership over how an Azure platform is designed and built.
