Senior Platform Engineer
£100,000–£130,000 basic + benefits UK Remote
I’m partnering with a high-growth technology business looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help shape the next phase of its platform engineering function.
Following the acquisition of a new exchange, the team is tackling a significant engineering challenge: evolving its platform architecture to support a highly available, low-latency distributed system.
This is an opportunity to join a small engineering team at a pivotal stage, with genuine influence over architectural decisions, platform standards, and the direction of the infrastructure.
The Role
- Design and build cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and Kubernetes.
- Develop scalable, highly available platforms, balancing performance, reliability, and resilience.
- Establish infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and observability.
- Collaborate across platform, application, and exchange engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- Take ownership of projects from initial design through to production, with the autonomy to shape solutions rather than simply execute tickets.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong, hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- A background in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Experience building and operating distributed systems, ideally in environments where latency and availability are critical.
- Proficiency in Java, Go, or Python, with an understanding of the relationship between infrastructure and application code.
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across distributed engineering teams.
