Senior Platform Engineer - Azure, GCP, Google Cloud, Python, CI/CD

£80,000–£90,000 | Manchester | Hybrid — three days a week in the office

We’re recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer for a SaaS / fintech business looking to strengthen its cloud infrastructure and make software delivery simpler, faster and more reliable.

This is a hands-on role with scope to influence how the platform evolves. You’ll take ownership of infrastructure and automation projects, work closely with Principal Engineers on technical direction, and help development teams deploy and operate their services with confidence.

We’re looking for someone who understands the principles of good platform engineering and can apply them across different cloud environments. Experience with GCP or Azure would be particularly valuable, alongside the flexibility to choose the right approach for the problem and work beyond a single provider.

The Role

You’ll build and improve the infrastructure, pipelines and tooling that engineering teams rely on every day. From reusable Terraform modules to self-service deployment workflows, your work will help reduce manual effort and give developers a clearer route from code to production.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and maintaining resilient cloud infrastructure using modular, reusable Terraform.
  • Improving CI/CD pipelines, including Buildkite and GitHub Actions, to make releases more consistent and efficient.
  • Creating self-service tools, infrastructure templates and practical documentation that help teams work independently.
  • Embedding security into infrastructure and delivery workflows through access controls, secrets management and automated checks.
  • Improving monitoring and observability so teams can understand service health and resolve issues quickly.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce cloud costs while maintaining performance and reliability.
  • Turning architectural direction into practical solutions, taking projects from initial design through to production.
  • Supporting other engineers through technical guidance, code reviews and shared learning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring strong platform engineering experience, sound technical judgement and the confidence to take ownership of complex work.

We’d like to see:

  • Experience building and operating production cloud platforms. GCP or Azure is preferred, but we welcome engineers from other cloud backgrounds who can transfer their knowledge.
  • A cloud-agnostic mindset: you understand the trade-offs between providers and are comfortable adapting your approach across environments.
  • Strong Terraform skills, including experience developing reusable modules and maintaining infrastructure as code at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation. Familiarity with Buildkite or GitHub Actions would be useful, alongside transferable experience with similar tools.
  • A practical understanding of cloud security, networking, identity and access management, and secrets management.
  • Experience improving platform reliability, observability and cloud spending.
  • An interest in developer experience, with examples of removing friction through automation, tooling or clearer standards.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers across different teams.
