Civica builds software that runs essential public services. Our systems support local government, the NHS, housing associations, and financial institutions - services that millions of people depend on every day. When our software works well, caseworkers make better decisions, clinicians access the right information, and councils deliver services that communities rely on.

We're not a startup chasing the next hype cycle. We're a company with deep roots in the public sector, working on problems that matter - and we're investing seriously in how we build software to make sure we can keep doing that for the next decade.

Why you will love this opportunity as Senior Platform Engineer at Civica

Platform Enablement helps engineering teams across Civica turn ideas into safe, reliable production delivery by reducing friction in the way teams build, release, operate, and get support for their services. The department brings together the people, tooling, and practices needed to improve developer experience, strengthen delivery standards, and ensure engineering effort is focused on product outcomes rather than reinventing infrastructure, support processes, or cost management.

The Field Engineering team is the embedded, hands-on arm of Platform Enablement. Working directly with product engineering teams, Field Engineering helps translate standards into practical, sustainable improvements within each team's codebase, delivery process, and operating context. The team partners closely with engineers and delivery leaders to identify gaps, unblock adoption of common tooling and practices, and build momentum towards safer, faster, and more consistent software delivery.

This role will support that mission by working alongside product teams to understand their current engineering practices, help them adopt platform standards, and guide practical improvements across areas such as development workflow, automated checks, build and release processes, observability, and production readiness. The position is suited to someone who can combine strong engineering judgement with a collaborative enablement mindset, helping teams make measurable progress while building trust in the platform and practices that support them.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
