About this role
You’ll be working within our Intelligence Platform Core team, responsible for underlying platform infrastructure across our new Data & ML Platforms within JET. Within the past year we’ve built new Data & ML Platforms on AWS and the Intelligence Platform Core team sits at the heart of both of them, creating self service experiences for running data and ML workflows without exposing the underlying complexity of Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure. We aim to provide a scalable, reliable and seamless platform experience for our users.
You’ll be the second full time engineer within this team, joining with the opportunity to shape our Platform vision and team culture as we grow and expand. The platform team also works closely with our Data and ML Platform teams on an advisory basis, providing best practises and advice where needed.
These are some of the key components to the position:
- You will contribute to both the design and implementation of the platform:
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of platform capabilities using Kubernetes-native patterns and event-driven architectures.
- Drive the adoption of platform engineering principles, building reusable abstractions and self-service workflows for internal users.
- Design and implement Kubernetes controllers/operators in Go to automate infrastructure and application lifecycle management.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to growing platform engineering practices across our pillar in the Data and ML Platform teams.
- Collaborate across teams to align on platform interfaces, abstractions, and shared infrastructure patterns.
- Support the hiring of new engineers as we expand the team, setting the bar on quality of code and collaboration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
