Senior PMO Manager (Retail)

Location: Manchester (3 days on-site per week)

Duration: 3 months initial plus extensions for long term programme

UMBRELLA ONLY

A business-critical opportunity to help an enterprise resilience programme move from mobilisation into controlled delivery-strengthening governance, transparency, and decision-ready reporting across multiple workstreams. Hiring for a reputed client, this role focuses on closing out identified risks and embedding disciplined controls for lasting resilience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Establish and operate a programme controls framework for a large-scale Enterprise Resilience Programme
  • Set up programme governance structures and a clear operating cadence, including Steering Committees and executive review forums
  • Build and maintain an integrated programme plan, including re-baselining schedules and tracking milestones and critical path
  • Create delivery workstreams (including dependencies and "swimlanes") and drive alignment across business, technology and supplier teams
  • Lead RAID management (Risk, Assumption, Issue and Dependency): facilitate reviews, drive escalations, and ensure actions are completed
  • Produce concise, executive-ready reporting packs for senior audiences, with dashboards, KPIs and evidence-led updates
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial tracking, including resource demand vs capacity and utilisation across PMO/BA/delivery resources
  • Implement assurance and controls-maintaining audit-ready documentation and coordinating stage-gate and delivery assurance checks
  • Manage senior stakeholder relationships and provide confident challenge/independent oversight where required

What You'll Bring

  • Significant PMO experience across large-scale transformation programmes, including establishing PMO controls from mobilisation through delivery
  • Strong governance and portfolio/management disciplines, with a proven track record of managing cross-functional interdependencies
  • Experience producing executive-level reporting for CIO/ExCo/Board audiences, focused on exposure, evidence and decision needs
  • Demonstrable ability to lead RAID processes and drive issue resolution to accountable owners and completion
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and influencing skills-especially in environments with complex personalities and strong stakeholder groups
