Senior Policy and Public Affairs Adviser - Wales
As a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Adviser - Wales, you'll engage with key stakeholders, policymakers and decision-makers to influence policy, legislation and political debate that improves outcomes for people affected by motor neurone disease (MND). Working closely with the Public Affairs Manager and Policy and Campaigns colleagues, you'll identify opportunities to drive change and strengthen the MND Association's position across the Welsh political landscape, and contribute to activity within the Senedd, including events, meetings, campaigns and high-quality policy communications that amplify our voice and impact.
This is a home-based role with travel requirements across Wales and occasionally to other UK locations. This will include occasional evening and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the MND Association's policy, public affairs and campaigning priorities across Wales
- Monitor and analyse policy developments, identifying opportunities to influence legislation and public policy
- Develop policy positions, recommendations and consultation responses with colleagues and stakeholders
- Produce high-quality briefings, reports, submissions, speeches and other communications
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Members of the Senedd, government officials and key partners
- Support the planning and delivery of meetings, events and engagement activity within the Senedd
- Work with colleagues to implement public affairs and campaigning strategies across Wales
- Keep internal and external audiences informed of relevant policy and political developments
- Collaborate with volunteers, supporters and partner organisations to deliver campaigning activity
- Represent the MND Association at meetings, events and media opportunities as required

Essential
About You
- Strong understanding of the Welsh political system, legislative processes and policy development
- Experience in policy, public affairs or campaigning roles
- Experience of responding to policy consultations and influencing decision-makers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong relationship-building, influencing and negotiation abilities
- Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Able to travel across Wales, with occasional evening or weekend work
Desirable
- Experience of health, social care or welfare policy
- Experience engaging volunteers or supporters in policy and public affairs activity
- Familiarity with verbal and written communication in Welsh
