The Role: Senior Software Engineer
Great engineers come from various backgrounds and specialisations. At Burendo, we seek individuals passionate about contributing across the tech stack—from development to delivery.
Your first project will be Java-based, so prior experience with Java is beneficial.

Collaboration & Ownership:
- Comfortable with pairing/mobbing scenarios
- Principle that code isn’t delivered at ii—a "throw it over the fence" approach
- Desire to build others up rather than being the lone hero

- A DevOps mentality, meaning you’d step into testing, infrastructure, and delivery processes
- Honesty with teams about challenges (no "fake it till you make it")

- Ability to translatest drive, technical knowledge to non-technical stakeholders
Minimum Technical Requirements
We want people with a broad understanding of development, infrastructure, and testing. Due to our hybrid approach, the following skills will help you build expertise quickly:
Must-Haves

Commercial experience in Java
-
Plus at least one other language (e.g., Node.js, Python, C#)
-
At least one of these:
- Experience working with cloud environments, specifically AWS or Azure.
- Fundamental knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform or ansible).
Good-to-Have (Bonus)
- Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/other)
- Live product support (debugging, performance, updates)
- Adaptability to multiple tech stacks
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Source control (especially Git)
- Experience with database technologies (relational or no-SQL)
Cherry-on-Top (Nice if You Have):
- Exposure to No-SQL technologies (e.g., MongoDB)
- Experience with advanced CI/CD tools
- Passion for community-building (blogs, meetups, public speaking)
- Background in technology/consulting firms
