We're partnering with a well-established global insurance organisation that delivers specialist commercial insurance and reinsurance solutions across international markets. As part of continued investment in technology and business transformation, they're seeking a Senior Portfolio Architect to provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of enterprise-wide initiatives. This is a highly influential role, responsible for guiding architectural direction, supporting major transformation programmes, and ensuring technology investments are closely aligned with long-term business priorities.

A key focus of the position will be driving the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and automation technologies throughout the organisation. You'll play a leading role in identifying opportunities where AI, machine learning and intelligent automation can enhance business performance, streamline operations, accelerate delivery and support innovation across the enterprise.

You will influence decision-making at both strategic and operational levels, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and aligned to business objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Establish and maintain architecture strategies, target-state designs and technology roadmaps across multiple programmes.
  • Convert business priorities and transformation objectives into clear architectural direction.
  • Provide leadership across enterprise, solution, data, integration, cloud and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape future operating models and technology capabilities.
  • Lead architecture governance, design authority and assurance processes.
  • Develop and promote architecture standards, frameworks, patterns and best practices.
  • Drive the adoption of AI, automation and machine learning solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Identify innovative opportunities to improve customer experience, operational efficiency and decision-making through emerging technologies.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrable experience defining portfolio-level architecture strategy and technology roadmaps.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at senior leadership level.
  • Broad expertise across enterprise, solution, integration, cloud and data architecture.
  • Experience leading architecture governance, technical oversight and design assurance activities.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native solutions, API-led integration, resilience and security principles.
  • Track record of incorporating AI, automation or machine learning technologies into transformation programmes.
  • Ability to evaluate where AI can deliver tangible value across business processes and technology functions.
  • Experience working with Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience within the insurance or wider financial services sector.

Package & Benefits

  • Salary up to £125,000 plus up to 17.5% annual bonus
  • Hybrid working model, typically 2-3 days per week in the office
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays with the option to buy and sell additional holiday
