About the Role
If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.
We are seeking a Senior Portfolio Value Manager
Join UK Change Execution in a senior role with the scope to shape how HSBC UK governs, enables and delivers change. You will help evolve Portfolio Value Management beyond retrospective reporting, protecting delivery and control today, creating capacity through simplification and automation, and building the predictive insight needed to influence better investment and delivery decisions.
You will be a leader with experience in either Agile delivery and portfolio tooling or governance and portfolio management. You will bring curiosity and fresh thinking to challenge established approaches, identify opportunities to innovate and simplify, and shape a more connected, future-focused PVM capability, underpinned by sound financial management and effective controls and risk management.
Whichever route you bring, this is an opportunity to lead visible, practical change across the UK Bank, work with senior leaders and Global teams, and build broader strategic, commercial and leadership impact.
A move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Turn portfolio data into decisions by creating a clear, forward-looking view of delivery, investment, capacity, risk, quality and value across the UK change portfolio
- Shape one of two strategic ownership areas, either evolving Agile delivery and portfolio tooling towards an integrated future state, or strengthening governance and portfolio orchestration to improve transparency, challenge and decision-making
- Create capacity and improve outcomes by simplifying, standardising and automating processes, reducing manual effort and enabling teams to focus on higher-value activity
- Protect delivery and value by providing effective oversight of investment, financial performance, the change runway, dependencies and delivery risk so change lands safely and delivers the intended outcomes
- Influence across boundaries by connecting Delivery Directors, Finance, Business Planning, UK business areas and Global teams, building alignment and translating complexity into clear action

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
