About the Role
In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale reporting, analytics, and data engineering solutions across Microsoft’s data platform.
You will be a hands-on, technical professional who can work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and leadership to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable analytics solutions while meeting tight deadlines.
What You'll Do
Power BI Development
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
- Build scalable and reusable data models using best practices for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Develop advanced DAX calculations, measures, KPIs, and analytical solutions.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and governance standards across reporting solutions.
- Optimise report performance and troubleshoot complex Power BI issues.
Data Engineering & ETL Development
- Design and develop robust ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Create and maintain data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple source systems.
- Develop scalable data warehouse, lakehouse, and data mart solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across analytical platforms.
- Monitor and optimise pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Microsoft Fabric & Platform Modernisation
- Support and lead migration initiatives from legacy BI and data platforms into Microsoft Fabric.
- Design and implement Fabric architecture, including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, and Semantic Models.
- Contribute to platform governance, security, and best practices.
- Evaluate new Fabric capabilities and identify opportunities for business value.
Stakeholder Management & Delivery
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Manage competing priorities across multiple projects and business functions.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on project progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Work effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of delivery.
- Mentor junior developers and promote best practices across the team.
Governance & Best Practice
- Establish and maintain BI and data engineering standards.
- Implement CI/CD, version control, and deployment processes where appropriate.
- Promote best practices in Power BI development, ETL design, data modelling, and analytics delivery.
- Support documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Power BI development and data engineering roles.
- Strong experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
- Advanced knowledge of: Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), SQL, Data Modelling.
- Proven experience with: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, ETL/ELT development, Data Warehousing concepts.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and performance optimisation.
- Experience managing business stakeholders and gathering requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Desirable
- Experience leading or supporting migrations to Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with Lakehouse architecture and modern data platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and source control practices.
- Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
- Experience implementing enterprise reporting governance frameworks.
- Microsoft certifications in Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, or Fabric.
