About the Role

You’ll work alongside colleagues in the Insights team and partner closely with the Data & Technology function, while acting as the team’s primary Power BI specialist.

We are building a new data platform on Microsoft Fabric and, alongside it, the reporting that Cash Access UK will run on. Your job is to manage that reporting layer end to end: the certified semantic models that sit over the warehouse, the reports built on them, and the standards that determine how Power BI content is developed here.

You will support the design and delivery of the reporting stack from an early stage of BI maturity. This is not a role where requirements arrive fully formed and you build to spec. You will help shape what good looks like here, agree definitions with the people who own the business areas, and help shape how reporting develops as the organisation grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Substantial Power BI development experience, with meaningful ownership of a body of reporting rather than building to someone else’s specification.
  • Advanced DAX, including performance tuning, with strong Power Query skills.
  • Strong dimensional modelling for analytics, with practical experience of tabular model design.
  • Experience implementing row level security and governed sharing across multiple business areas.
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience querying analytical data warehouses.
  • Experience working to defined workspace, deployment and lifecycle standards, and improving them where they fall short.
  • Experience working with source control, deployment pipelines and controlled release processes for Power BI assets.
  • A track record of turning vague requirements from non-technical stakeholders into reporting that gets used.
  • Comfortable working where process is not yet established, able to set direction and deliver with limited supervision.
  • Credible with senior stakeholders, and willing to challenge a request when the underlying question is the wrong one.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Semantic Modelling

  • Design, build and maintain the certified semantic models that sit over our Fabric warehouse, covering star schema design, relationships, row level security and DAX measure logic.
  • Establish agreed metric definitions within the semantic layer so that reporting and future AI-assisted querying return consistent answers.
  • Optimise models for performance, including refresh strategy and query efficiency.
  • Monitor the health and performance of production semantic models, investigating refresh failures and performance issues.
  • Work closely with the Data & Technology team to influence warehouse design, ensuring data structures support effective semantic modelling and reporting.

Reporting and Data Products

  • Build certified reports and dashboards for executive, operational and departmental audiences, from first conversation through to adoption.
  • Migrate and consolidate existing Power BI content onto certified models, retiring duplicated and unmanaged reporting.
  • Apply consistent design and usability standards across everything published centrally.
  • Make sure reporting answers the question being asked rather than simply presenting the data that exists.
  • Identify, investigate and help prioritise resolution of data quality issues that impact reporting, working with business stakeholders and the Data & Technology team.
