Senior Power Plant Controls Engineer
ersg is leading the search for a Senior Power Plant Controls Engineer with experience in the building and development of an energy analytics platform. Our client, a prominent business within the Renewable Energy industry is adding an analytics platform their business.
You will be critical to the business' ability to ensure the greatest yield from their BESS investments. Utilising edge controller technology, the candidate must be able to demonstrate their experience in delivering the build and commissioning of an edge controller.
Key Responsibilities
- The creation/implementation of real-time control logic—including frequency droop, EFR, and dynamic-containment-style responses—in accordance with IEC 61131-3 on industrial controllers.
- Risk mitigation/Operational redundancy design—Creating setpoint limits (real and reactive) and suitable behaviours in the event of EMS issues.
- Writing power setpoint control and reading back outputs via Modbus TCP/IP.
- On-site Commissioning and FAT—Verifying the authenticity of grid-frequency response in-line with EMS.
- Comms/Network reinforcement—Ensuring mechanisms are in place to prevent cloud-based and cellular communications failure, utilising hardwired comms systems.

Qualifications/Experience
Applicants MUST possess a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar discipline), experience and training in Cybersecurity and Controls Systems is advantageous.
