Senior Practitioner
Senior Practitioner (Adult Social Care) – Limited Term Role
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Senior Practitioner, you will drive an independence-focused approach, ensuring adults’ social, health, and welfare needs are met effectively in South Gloucestershire. Your work will:
- Improve outcomes and quality of care for adults with support needs.
- Maintain high standards in Adult Social Care.
- Helm person-centred, professional support for vulnerable adults in the community.
What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to a Team Manager, your key responsibilities include:

Case Management & Supervision
- Proactively supervise staff, offering guidance on casework and practice.
- Collaborate with Senior Practitioners to assess risk, handle safeguarding referrals, and support complex cases per statutory requirements.

Quality & Performance Standards
- Uphold high performance and quality standards across the team.
- Ensure compliance with local/statutory regulations while championing positive service user outcomes.

Work Management & Records
- Prioritise workload efficiently, maintaining high standards of record-keeping and producing clear, professional reports.

- Professional Development

- Mentor students and newly qualified staff.
What We Need from You
Essential Requirements
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS, OT Diploma/degree) + HCPC registration.
- Post-qualifying experience in social care, with:
- Experience managing complex cases.
- Supervisory or mentoring skills.
- Strong expertise in risk assessment, safeguarding, and casework guidance.
- commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with adult safeguarding frameworks or mental health/social care legislation.
- Familiarity with DBS processes or local authority governance.
What You Need to Know
- Contract: Limited term until 1st August 2027 (pro-rated salary).
- Travel: Requires a full, valid driving licence + vehicle access (or alternative transport, with mileage reimbursement). Business insurance must be arranged.
- DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check is mandatory for this role.
- Working Model: Hybrid (office, home, and community-facing). Base at Badminton Road.
- Interviews: Tentatively scheduled for 3rd August 2026.
