Job Summary/Purpose
The Salford Mental Health Liaison service (SMHLS) offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi-disciplinary team so that patients of all ages with a suspected or actual mental health problem can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of age, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity. The service puts an emphasis on diversion and discharge from A&E and on the facilitation of early but effective discharge from general admission wards. The service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Senior CAMHS Practitioner post holder will primarily:
- Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team, in line with relevant clinical pathway, as outlined within the operational procedures and relevant service specification.
- Be expected to take a lead on developing and maintaining robust holistic care pathways into wider Children and Young People’s services, from the general hospital.
- Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of Children and Young People. This will be achieved through the delivery of training, consultation and supervision as core aspects of this role. The standards and content of which would be in line with national guidance, agreed best practice and be centred on a standardised core set of clinical competencies.

The Senior CAMHS Practitioner Post Holder Will Primarily
- Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team, in line with relevant clinical pathway, as outlined within the operational procedures and relevant service specification.
- Be expected to take a lead on developing and maintaining robust holistic care pathways into wider Children and Young People’s services, from the general hospital.
- Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of Children and Young People. - Support the management of the integrated MHLS multidisciplinary 24-hour mental health service.
- Provide direct patient interventions for Children and Young People, focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge and improved quality of life for patients referred to the service.
- Be expected to provide, and support the wider MDT in providing, safe and comprehensive assessments of Children and Young People attending the A & E department. Which would include offering advice, support and consultation in the development of highly developed risk assessments and management plans for this patient group.
