Senior Practitioner Psychologist / Psychological Therapist
Band 8a | Fixed Term – 12 Months (November 2026 to November 2027)
Part Time – 22.5 Hours per Week (3 Days)
Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Service | Mill View Hospital, Hove
£57,528 – £64,750 per annum (pro rata)

You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working with people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties
- Confidence supporting people during periods of crisis
- Strong formulation and multidisciplinary working skills
- Experience delivering individual and group psychological interventions
- An interest in service development and psychologically informed care
The role
As a Senior Practitioner Psychologist / Psychological Therapist, you’ll be a key member of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, providing specialist psychological input for people with complex presentations.

You’ll:
- Undertake specialist psychological assessments and develop formulations
- Support the wider team to translate formulations into collaborative care plans
- Deliver individual and group psychological interventions
- Work directly with service users, families, and carers
- Promote psychologically informed and trauma-aware approaches across the team
- Provide consultation, training, and supervision to colleagues
- Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives
- Work closely with psychology and therapies colleagues across the hospital and wider division
This is a varied role combining direct clinical work with consultation, supervision, and wider team development.
About the service
The Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service provides urgent assessment and intensive support for people experiencing a mental health crisis.
The team works to:
- Provide timely specialist support during periods of acute distress
- Develop alternatives to inpatient admission where safe and appropriate
- Support recovery within people’s homes and communities
- Work collaboratively with inpatient, community, and partner services
- Embed psychologically informed approaches throughout crisis care
You’ll join a skilled multidisciplinary team based at Mill View Hospital, with access to a wider network of psychological professionals across Brighton & Hove.

For Practitioner Psychologist applicants, HCPC-approved doctoral-level training and relevant professional registration are required. Applicants from other psychological therapy professions will need the recognised postgraduate qualification and registration appropriate to their discipline.
