Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant – Director Progression
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 DOE
Career progression: Genuine route to Directorship
Long-term opportunity: Potential shareholding, part-ownership, and dividends
What if your next acoustics role could ultimately lead to you owning part of the company?
Zest4Talent is recruiting an experienced Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant for an established, independent acoustics consultancy in Greater Manchester.
This is not simply another Senior or Principal Consultant role.
Our client is looking for someone who can take ownership of projects and client relationships while becoming increasingly involved in developing the business. For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to progress to Director and potentially become a shareholder and part-owner of the consultancy, with the prospect of participating in future dividends.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than technical progression and is interested in helping shape the future of a growing independent business.
🔊 The Opportunity
Working across Building and Environmental Acoustics, you will have the opportunity to:
- Manage acoustics consultancy projects from initial brief through to completion.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients.
- Build new relationships with architects, developers, contractors, and other industry professionals.
- Identify commercial opportunities and contribute to winning new work.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
- Help develop new services and opportunities for the consultancy.
- Take increasing responsibility for the commercial and operational development of the business.
- Play an important role in shaping the future direction and growth of the consultancy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Unlike many senior consultancy positions, this opportunity offers the prospect of becoming increasingly involved in the leadership and ownership of the business.
The potential Director appointment, shareholding, and dividend participation are longer-term opportunities for the right individual, rather than guaranteed benefits on joining.
Interested in Finding Out More?
If your ambition is ultimately to help run and potentially own an acoustics consultancy, rather than simply progress through another corporate structure, we would welcome a confidential conversation. You don't need to be actively looking for a new role to explore whether this opportunity could be right for you.
