Role Description
For the right person, this Senior/Principal Ecological Consultant role can be full-time or part-time. Based out of Bishop's Stortford, and offered on a hybrid working model that combines office, site, and home-based work. The role involves leading ecological surveys and assessments, preparing technical reports, and providing clear advice to clients and project teams.

- Strong ecological survey and assessment skills, including experience with habitat and species surveys, data analysis, and preparation of ecological reports.
- Solid understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological best practice, with the ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice to clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including scoping work, managing budgets and timelines, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs, and delivering to agreed quality standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ecological information in a concise and accessible way for different audiences.
- Proven ability to mentor and support less experienced colleagues, contribute to team learning, and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM), with a track record of continued professional development.
- Relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; experience within environmental consultancy is highly beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work as required.
