About the Role

The UK water sector is undergoing a transformative period of investment. Egis is accelerating its growth in the UK Water Business and is building a high-performing EICA Engineering team to help shape the future. We’re seeking applicants who want to play a key role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes and contribute to technically robust, sustainable, and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.

This is a rare opportunity to join at a critical stage in our UK growth, helping to establish, direct, and expand Egis' EICA engineering capability, built on our global infrastructure expertise and long-term sector commitment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership for the Electrical / EICA discipline within the UK Water/Wastewater treatment design team.
  • Act as discipline lead, sub-lead or senior technical authority across all project stages:
    • Feasibility
    • Optioneering
    • Design
    • Construction support
    • Commissioning and handover
  • Set and enforce discipline design standards, including:
    • Design requirements
    • Risk processes
    • Digital workflows
    • Quality expectations
  • Lead and ensure the execution of complex deliverables, including:
    • Key technical decisions
    • Supplier packages
    • Contractor submissions
    • Multidisciplinary interfaces
  • Drive integrated mechanical, EICA, MEP, civil/structural, construction, and operational coordination to ensure efficient, buildable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Lead senior client engagement, technical workshops, design reviews, optioneering, and value engineering.
  • Embed modern delivery approaches, such as:
    • Digital design
    • Simulation and automation
    • Standardised tools
    • Data-led decision-making
    • Supplier integration
  • Support project directors and project managers in:
    • Technical risk assessment
    • Scope, resourcing, and programme planning
    • Budget and change control management
    • Design quality assurance
  • Build and develop your discipline sub-team through:
    • Recruitment
    • Mentoring
    • Line management
    • Succession planning
    • Professional development
  • Support business planning and client development, including:
    • Bid strategy
    • Work winning
    • Growth of Egis’ UK water/wastewater treatment capability

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng/MEng, or equivalent degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with a recognised professional institution.
  • 10–12+ years of relevant experience, exclusively within UK water/wastewater treatment, utilities, process, energy, or infrastructure design.
  • A proven record of discipline design leadership and technical assurance on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK water sector drivers, including:
    • Water company asset standards
    • CDM 2015 regulations
    • Safety-by-design principles
    • Environmental and regulatory demands
    • Common delivery models.
  • Mastery of deep EICA technical expertise, ability to guide, review, and approve complex engineering decisions.
  • Experience in developing people, including mentoring, line management, technical coaching, recruitment, or resource planning.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management, with credibility to lead senior technical discussions and influence project direction.
  • Strong commercial awareness including:
    • Scope development
    • Fee estimating
    • Programme and resource planning
    • Risk and change control management.
  • Digital and innovation mindset, with experience in modernising delivery methods such as:
    • Digital design and simulation
    • Automation
    • BIM/MEP coordination
    • Standardisation
    • Data workflows.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience as a discipline lead, design manager, or sub-team lead in:
    • Consultancies
    • Contracting firms
    • Water companies
    • Technology providers
    • Engineering businesses.
  • Extensive client network supporting bid leadership, work winning, and UK water sector growth.
  • Experience in digital wastewater treatment, including:
    • Process optimisation
    • Operational intelligence
    • Smart assets management
    • Energy/lower-carbon solutions
    • Modular or offsite design.
  • Proven experience in technical governance, including communities of practice, design standards, QA frameworks, and delivery improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in building teams during growth phases, including:
    • Skills mapping and capability planning
    • Creating a positive, delivery-focused culture.
  • UK working visa or right to work in the UK.
