An established and highly regarded building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join its London team and work on major data centre projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer with strong data centre and mission–critical design experience to take a key role within a respected MEP consultancy.

As a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of complex electrical building services systems across technically demanding data centre projects.

The successful Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer will have experience designing resilient electrical infrastructure, including LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, lighting, containment and associated systems.

You will work closely with clients, architects, mechanical engineers and wider project teams, taking technical ownership from concept design through to detailed design and delivery.

The Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers, review designs and contribute to client and design–team meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical building services design on data centre and mission–critical projects
  • Design LV distribution, UPS, standby generation, lighting and containment systems
  • Develop resilient and high–availability electrical infrastructure
  • Produce calculations, specifications and technical reports
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural and architectural teams
  • Attend client and design–team meetings
  • Review designs and mentor junior engineers
  • Support projects from concept through detailed design and delivery

About You

  • Strong experience within an MEP or building services consultancy
  • Proven electrical design experience within data centres or mission–critical environments
  • Experience operating at Senior or Principal Engineer level
  • Strong knowledge of UK electrical building services standards
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered status would be advantageous
