About The Role
TSR Legal is working with a well-established regional law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Private Client Solicitor to join its Abergavenny office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Private Client Solicitor with at least six years’ PQE to join a highly regarded department handling a broad range of quality Private Client work.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload while supporting the continued development of the department. The firm is particularly interested in speaking with STEP-qualified candidates or Solicitors with strong experience in complex estates, trusts, and tax planning.

The Private Client team handles a varied caseload, including complex and high-value estates, trusts, succession planning, agricultural assets, and family businesses. The firm offers a supportive and professional working environment, with a strong emphasis on client care, technical quality, and long-term relationships.

The Role Will Involve
- Managing a varied Private Client caseload from initial instruction through to completion
- Drafting and advising on complex Wills
- Advising on Probate and estate administration matters
- Managing high-value and taxable estates
- Advising on Trust creation, administration, and taxation
- Providing inheritance tax and succession planning advice
- Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Handling Court of Protection and deputyship matters
- Advising on estates involving agricultural land, family businesses, and company assets
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the department
- Assisting with technical queries and departmental development
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and professional contacts
- Participating in networking and business development activities
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will
- Be a qualified Solicitor with at least six years’ PQE in Private Client law
- Have substantial experience handling Wills, Probate, Trusts, and estate planning matters
- Ideally be STEP qualified or working towards STEP accreditation
- Be comfortable managing complex, high-value, and taxable estates
- Be able to manage matters independently with minimal supervision
- Have strong drafting, communication, and client care skills
- Be confident advising clients on sensitive and technically complex matters
- Be willing to support and mentor junior colleagues
- Have a commercial approach and an interest in business development
