Every day, water and wastewater infrastructure faces new demands, from maintaining reliable drinking water supplies to improving treatment processes and protecting the natural environment. At Stantec, our Process Engineering teams are helping shape the solutions to these challenges, delivering projects that support essential water services and create lasting benefits for communities.

We’re looking for a Process Engineer – Water Sector to join our growing teams in Reading, Brighton, Southampton or Cambridge. Working across both Clean Water and Wastewater projects, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of engineering challenges, treatment processes and infrastructure improvements, collaborating with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary specialists.

This is an opportunity to develop your technical expertise across the wider water sector, contribute to meaningful projects and build a rewarding career within a supportive and growing Process Engineering team.

About The Role

As a Process Engineer, you’ll support the development and delivery of engineering solutions across Clean Water and Wastewater projects, contributing to work at different stages of the project lifecycle.

You Will

  • Develop process engineering solutions, including calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment evaluations.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, calculations and design documentation.
  • Support process design from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Contribute to site investigations, asset assessments, treatment optimisation and technical studies.
  • Work with civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and environmental specialists to develop coordinated engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand client requirements and deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.
  • Build your technical capability through mentoring, training and hands-on experience across a diverse project portfolio.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of effective engineering practices.

YOUR IMPACT

Your work will help improve the performance, resilience and sustainability of water and wastewater infrastructure across the UK. By contributing to projects spanning both Clean Water and Wastewater, you’ll support reliable water supplies, effective treatment processes and better environmental outcomes.

You’ll also broaden your understanding of the water sector, learn from experienced specialists and develop the technical and project delivery skills needed to take on greater responsibility as your career progresses.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
