About the Role

The Senior Process Specialist will act as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert in business process improvement, operational excellence, and service transformation. The role is responsible for assessing current operating models, identifying process inefficiencies, risks, and control gaps, and providing evidence-based recommendations to improve service performance, compliance, user experience, and organisational effectiveness.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, the post holder will conduct process assessments, facilitate workshops, analyse business operations, and produce actionable recommendations that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Process Assessment & Gap Analysis

  • Review and assess existing end-to-end business processes, operating procedures, governance frameworks, and service delivery models.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, duplication of effort, control weaknesses, and operational risks.
  • Conduct maturity assessments and benchmark organisational processes against industry best practices.
  • Evaluate process compliance with organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and service standards.

Strategic Advisory

  • Provide expert guidance to senior leaders on process optimisation opportunities and transformation initiatives.
  • Develop recommendations for process redesign, service improvement, automation, and organisational change.
  • Present findings and recommendations to programme boards, executive stakeholders, and governance forums.

Business Process Improvement

  • Facilitate discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process review sessions.
  • Produce current-state and future-state process maps.
  • Recommend improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities for digital enablement, workflow automation, and service modernisation.

Governance & Assurance

  • Assess operational controls and governance arrangements.
  • Identify process-related risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Develop process standards, templates, and best practice guidance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with executives, operational leaders, business users, and programme teams.
  • Challenge existing ways of working constructively and influence strategic decisions.
  • Translate complex operational issues into clear business recommendations.
  • Facilitate consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.

Continuous Improvement Leadership

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across business functions.
  • Coach managers and teams on process excellence techniques and methodologies.
  • Support capability building in process assessment and improvement practices.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging best practices, tools, and industry trends.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience conducting business process assessments and organisational reviews.
  • Proven track record identifying process improvement opportunities within complex organisations.
  • Experience producing strategic recommendations for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience working within large-scale transformation, change, or operational excellence programmes.
  • Experience within healthcare, public sector, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
