Senior Procurement Manager

Location: Stevenage, Bolton or Bristol

Salary: Circa £60,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

Working Model: Hybrid, 1 to 2 days per week on-site, with travel between sites and to suppliers across the UK and Europe

Security: British Citizen or Dual UK national

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to join a leading international defence organisation, supporting the delivery of complex, high-value programmes through effective supplier and subcontract management.

You will lead a team of procurement specialists while managing a portfolio of projects, working closely with senior project, engineering and technical stakeholders. The role combines strategic procurement, supplier negotiation, contract management and commercial risk management within a highly regulated engineering environment.

The role

  • Lead and support a team of procurement professionals, ensuring effective delivery across multiple projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of supplier and subcontract procurement activities from initial requirements through to contract completion.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, contractual terms and conditions with key suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers across the UK and internationally.
  • Work closely with project and technical teams to understand requirements and provide commercially sound procurement solutions.
  • Manage supplier performance against cost, quality and delivery expectations.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Ensure procurement activity meets required governance, authorisation and due diligence standards.
  • Support competitive tendering, supplier selection and new business opportunities.
  • Resolve complex commercial issues through effective negotiation and stakeholder management.
  • Provide procurement guidance to senior internal stakeholders across a range of projects and commercial frameworks.
  • Travel to supplier and company sites across the UK, Europe and potentially internationally.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in procurement, supplier management or subcontract management within a complex commercial environment.
  • Proven experience negotiating contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Experience managing procurement activity throughout the full contract lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of commercial governance, due diligence and procurement controls.
  • Experience supporting competitive tendering and supplier negotiations.
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders across technical, project and commercial functions.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring or leading procurement professionals.
  • Highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • A methodical approach with strong attention to detail and an appreciation for working within established procedures.

What’s on offer

  • Salary of circa £60,000 - £65,000, depending on experience.
  • Bonus opportunity of up to 21% of base salary.
