Senior Procurement Manager

Bolton | Hybrid | £65,000 - £75,000 | 4 day week but with a full time salary.

We are recruiting for a Senior Procurement Manager to join a large, growing organisation with a genuine social purpose and a wide-ranging, multi-site operation across education, care and specialist services.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional who wants genuine ownership and autonomy. Reporting into the Finance function, you will take responsibility for shaping and developing procurement across the organisation, with the freedom to build the function, introduce best practice and establish the procurement strategy.

You will manage a small existing team of two Procurement Assistants and work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Property, IT and operational teams.

The opportunity

This is not a procurement role where you'll simply be following an established process. The organisation is looking for someone at Senior Procurement Manager level who can take ownership, assess where the current function is, identify opportunities for improvement and determine how procurement should operate going forward.

You'll have the autonomy to:

  • Develop and implement the organisation's procurement strategy
  • Introduce and improve procurement processes, systems and governance
  • Build stronger supplier relationships and commercial frameworks
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved value
  • Lead tenders and strategic sourcing exercises
  • Develop and manage the procurement team
  • Establish robust supplier due diligence and performance management
  • Work closely with Finance to improve commercial visibility and control
  • Influence senior stakeholders across the wider organisation

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement function across a large, multi-site organisation
  • Manage and develop two Procurement Assistants, providing leadership, guidance and support
  • Develop procurement strategies across a broad range of categories
  • Lead competitive tendering, supplier selection and contract negotiations
  • Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships
  • Review supplier performance, compliance, quality and value for money
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency opportunities
  • Establish appropriate procurement policies, processes and governance
  • Maintain supplier databases, contracts registers and procurement reporting
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and forecast future demand
  • Support procurement for new site openings and operational expansion
  • Manage procurement across areas including facilities, cleaning, catering, energy, fleet, equipment and other operational services
  • Ensure appropriate due diligence and compliance processes are followed
  • Provide commercial insight and procurement reporting to Finance and senior stakeholders
  • Resolve supplier issues, complaints and contractual disputes
  • Continuously review the procurement function and identify opportunities for improvement

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're particularly interested in people who have worked within organisations where procurement covers a broad and varied supplier base, rather than someone whose experience has been restricted to a single category.

Why this opportunity?

This is a role where you can genuinely make your mark. You'll be joining an organisation where procurement has significant scope for development, with senior leadership recognising the need for a strong procurement professional to come in, take ownership and establish the function for the future.

You'll have:

  • £65,000 - £75,000 salary
  • Hybrid working in Bolton
  • 2 days per week in the office: Monday & Thursday
  • 4-day working week after probation
  • That's four working days while retaining your full-time salary, with a designated rest day each week.
