You will be expected to develop, produce, and deliver digital video-first storytelling on major crime stories, investigations, and criminal justice issues.

What you'll do:

- Develop story treatments from initial brief through research, scripting, filming, editing, and delivery, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and impact
- Monitor crime, policing, court, and justice developments, identifying stories with national relevance, human impact, and investigative potential
- Work with correspondents to shape interviews, sequences, visual evidence, archive, graphics, and explainers into compelling multi-platform packages
- Ensure all content is legally and editorially compliant, including around contempt, identification, reporting restrictions, naming suspects, victims, and minors, and the handling of distressing material
- Deliver content at pace for breaking stories while maintaining high standards of verification, context, sensitivity, and platform optimization
Essential criteria:
- Strong editorial judgment on crime, policing, courts, and justice stories, including an understanding of legal and compliance risks
- An ability to bring in and run consequential investigations
- Excellent production skills across scripting, shooting, editing, picture selection, graphics, and digital platform delivery
- Ability to work calmly and decisively under pressure, especially on breaking crime stories and legally sensitive developments
- Strong verification, research, and source-handling skills, with the ability to distinguish confirmed facts from claims, rumor, or speculation
- Sensitivity and care when dealing with victims, witnesses, bereaved families, vulnerable people, and affected communities
- Clear understanding of digital video-first storytelling and how to optimize crime content for different audiences and platforms
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across editorial, technical, legal, and compliance teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
