About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to join a leading international investment bank seeking an experienced Senior Product/ Financial Controller on a fixed-term basis. This is a high-impact role for a technically strong accountant who can operate at a senior level, combining hands-on product control responsibilities with broader financial reporting oversight and transformation work.
The position sits within the Business Area Control (BAC) team and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the firm’s financial results. You will act as a trusted partner to Front Office, Risk, and senior Finance leadership, providing challenge, insight, and senior oversight across daily P&L, valuation controls, balance sheet substantiation, and month-end close.
Key Responsibilities
- Senior oversight of daily P&L production and analysis for trading desks, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and high-quality commentary.
- Ownership of balance sheet integrity, valuation controls, IPV processes, and resolution of complex or material items.
- Act as senior point of contact for new products, non-standard transactions, and business initiatives, ensuring correct accounting, valuation, and control frameworks.
- Lead and challenge during month-end close, quarter-end reporting, and submissions to global headquarters.
- Strengthen the internal control framework across trading-related financial data, ensuring audit-ready processes.
- Drive Finance Transformation initiatives focused on automation, simplification, and improved scalability.
- Partner closely with Front Office, Risk, Operations, and senior Finance stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide senior review and judgement across statutory reporting, disclosures, and financial instrument-related accounting.
- Prepare materials for governance forums and contribute to SMCR-related reporting.

- Strong background in product control and financial control within banking or trading environments.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and explain complex financial data clearly.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving change, improving processes, and strengthening controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong knowledge of GL and financial systems.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with senior oversight.
Qualifications
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
